Excerpt from the book
The Medicine Brothers and the Giant Birds
Rydih Ohndieh gu Waga Sho
When the world was new, gigantic animals (Eh-ah Hihnshah) roamed the Earth.
Some were birds and some were four-legged but they all were very dangerous.
To escape the giant animals, People would sometimes run out onto thin ice (Tehn debeleh) and the huge animals chasing behind would run after them.
The giant beasts would then fall through the ice.
Sometimes the fleeing People would run into the forest (Dehshihntah) and the animals chasing them would get stuck between the trees, giving the People time to escape.
