Ducks Redux is based on this 2011 novel by CD Evans and LM Shyba, 5000 Dead Ducks: Lust and Revolution in the Oilsands. This prescient story has received a mighty rewrite in the form of Ducks Redux, this time for young adult (Y/A) readers.
Just as Ducks Redux was based on the novel 5000 Dead Ducks, 5000 Dead Ducks explored themes that emerged from Lorene Shyba's PhD research -- research that culminated in a forum theatre play and this video pinball game called The Pipeline Pinball Energy Thrill Ride Game. In Ducks Redux, Maeve Wong and Kayla Van Dam play the game, which was designed by her brother, and Maeve's love interest, Lucas.
